Welcome to From Louisville, With Love! And thanks for stopping by!
For introductions sake, there are a few things you should know: my name is Hannah, I’m a 25 year old Louisville native in a lifelong love affair with… well, a lot of things. Some call it scatterbrained but I just call it a day in the life. This blog will be a reflection of that I assure you; no agenda, no deadlines– just the ramblings of a wide-eyed girl from the Bluegrass trying to figure it all out; usually with little to no luck, but often a good laugh.
You should be warned up front: if you don’t like a good drink, the great outdoors, dogs, the United States Marine Corps, food or Kentucky– this blog will not be for you. But if you do, hang your hat up and stay awhile.
My inspiration for this blog extends beyond my hometown but I find that paying your dues to the place that raised you up is a very important rite of passage. Hunter S. Thompson once said, “If I could think of a way to do it right now, I’d head back to Louisville, sit on the porch drinking beer, drive around Cherokee Park for a few nights, and try to sink back as far as I could into the world that did it’s best to make me.” I think Hunter got it right, the magnetism of this not-quite-the-North-but-not-quite-the-South, two degrees of separation city. It’s not a sinking of claws that keeps people here, it’s the ability of the city to catch and release without skipping a beat that makes it vibrant. It watches you go, but knows you’ll crave being back. These are the kinds of things that inspire me to write.
With that being said, I hope you’ll enjoy getting to know me and this blog. I make no promises for the content beyond it being genuine. This blog is written by a girl who will not be able to teach you how to put on lipstick or curl your hair, who will not be able to provide one stop shop for advice on pretty much anything or give you 10 easy steps to organize your life/house/tupperware. What this blog may give you is a good drink recipe on occasion, a passionate curse word fairly often and hopefully something to relate to. I can tell you what this blog will certainly provide you with, is a look inside the life of a person who is striving for grace, not perfection in a world that expects it all.
I’m so happy you’re here. Let’s do life together and see what happens.
